At I Love My Garden Building, we understand that every customer has unique needs ,personal preferences and taste and that every home and garden has a different atmosphere.
So instead of a one size fits all approach ,we offer a wide variety of cladding options , tailoring your building to meet your requirements and tastes, whilst being sympathetic to it's surroundings.
Perhaps the most important thing to consider is maintenance. The cladding is the skin of a building, it takes a beating from the weather here in the UK ,so it needs to be durable. We also have busy lives and so buildings need to be easy to maintain.
At 'I love my Garden Building' We place huge emphasis on low maintenance buildings. We want you to enjoy your building for many years without having to spend countless hours every year keeping it looking it's best.
Let's take a look at the options.
Below we've put together and explain some options.
We carry Samples of these for you to see and feel up close on a home visit.
In recent years slat wall has become very popular and a often used to achieve a contemporary look indoors.
There are now composite slat wall cladding options available for use externally. Slat wall cladding can really make a building stand out , giving it a very contemporary look. This can be used as a feature on a primary face of the building or indeed on the entire building.
Being a composite product. It will not rot ,deteriorate ,hold moisture or fade. Overall it's an excellent choice for anyone that wants a modern look that really pops!
Perhaps the best solution for you lf you want a more traditional finish but not the maintenance that comes along with timber cladding.
There are a lot of board options available with some very nice grain effects in some gorgeous colours.
As with most boards these can be fitted horizontally or vertically depending on your preference.
This option with it's fine grains gives a contemporary look with a nod to the traditional. With narrow joints between boards they give a clean finish to any building. As with other boards. These can be fitted horizontally or vertically.
A brushed or smooth faces composite board is an obvious choice for someone looking for a clean, crisp ,modern Look. In a variety of colours with their tight ,narrow joints these are a popular choice in modern gardens with Modern properties. These boards also really compliment the slatted cladding boards used on a feature primary wall.
We appreciate some of you just love wood. So do we. There are also occasions where the local authority stipulate that wood is the only acceptable finish. Ie in conservation areas, listed properties or of significant interest and AONB.
Where this is the case we still place huge importance on longevity and minimising maintenance of your building. So depending on your preference we'd use a larch or cedar board and protect it with a UV resistant oil.
We use and recommend Cement boards quite frequently. Even where planning permission isn't required for a building.
In certain circumstances where a building is over 15sqM and close to a boundary, those adjacent walls need to be non combustible. In this case, being that they are wholly non combustible,we use painted cement boards on the unseen back and side walls adjacent to said boundary. They don't rot and need no maintenance.
We may also decide to use these where unseen walls of the building are too close to a boundary or property walls to effectively access or maintain them.
Advancement in cement based cladding has come a long way in recent years. There a couple of companies that can supply boards in some very attractive finishes and colours. Being cement based it's extremely durable ,weather resistant and will not rot. However the availability, cost, and installation methods often make the use of cement based boards less cost effective than composite products.
There are however certain circumstances where cement based products are necessary. Because they're non combustible they may be specified by building regulations where buildings are built in close proximity to other property or adjacent to means of escape /emergency exits or under stair case etc. we can determine all of these circumstances on a site visit.
